*McCartney Magic*

Photobucket

Lately I've been probing the net for inspiration for my uni photography brief and this image of a Stella McCartney ad campaign popped up. After numerous lectures recently on compositional styles I thought this technique of combining collage/illustration/photography looks really eye catching and effective which is more than the average product selling ad. I particularly liked the subtle way of presenting three separate photographs into one, without the page looking too busy and cluttered.

*Drop Dead Diorgious*

When I first laid eyes on these Christian Dior sandals it was love at first sight, however the price tag that goes with them isn't so attractive and not likely that I'll be slipping my little tootsies into the beautiful leather any time soon :(
Christian Dior isn't really known for footwear but every so often they really hit the mark.

*Knitwear Fashion Show*

This week I went to NTU's first year Knitwear Fashion Show at Escucha, lets just say I was pretty impressed, I wouldn't mind wearing most of the designs that strutted along the designated catwalk, the ones that I wouldn't wear were just that little bit too crazy and unpractical for daily life. Here's all the students designs, take a look and leave a comment, I think everyone else will be as impressed as me :)

Thanks to Drapers here's a preview of Matthew Williamson's capsule collection for H&M, due to be released on 23rd April. I don't know about you but I am loving it, especially the satin jumpsuit and cropped leather jacket. He also designed a menswear collection- his first ever- which hasn't been released yet.

Matthew Williamson said: “I wanted to create a strong urban collection fused with the brand’s signature symbols and shapes. It’s been fascinating to search back through my archives to isolate the most iconic pieces, then rework them for H&M. Colour is one of the defining aspects of my signature style, I focused on the iconic peacock motif seen across my collections to develop a palette of blues, chartreuse and emerald. The spirit of the collection is both covetable and precious.”
Bring on April 23rd :)

*Su Blackwell*

Whilst researching for my current project brief, this image of Blackwell's Magnolia Tree popped up and I thought it was just so different and pretty. It's obvious so much time, talent and commitment has gone into producing something these works of art and paper definately isn't the easiest material to work with when it comes to delicate cutting like this. They remind me so much of fairytales that were read to me as a child, maybe that's why I like it so much because I can indulge myself for a moment in to my carefree childhood years. Here's a few more pieces of her work.
